
Biography
Noted for her shimmering voice with rich tones, soprano Deborah Anderson has captivated audiences of all ages with her operatic performances. Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ms. Anderson has spent much of her life performing on stage since elementary school. She is a vocalist whose song interpretation and stage presence are filled with expression and nuance reflective of the character she portrays within a production. With a comfortable three-range octave, Deborah has sung across musical genres and is at home performing in off-Broadway plays as well as in Opera houses. Her passion, however, is Opera.
As a Graduate vocal performance student at the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver, Deborah performed the lead role of Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She made her professional chorus debut in Opera Colorado’s production of Carmen and a CD recording of Gerald Cohen’s Steal a Pencil For Me, as a chorus role. Upon taking a leave from graduate studies in 2021, Deborah performed with The Eagles on their “Hotel California Tour” in addition to singing with the Evan’s Choir for a United Way Fundraiser featuring keynote speaker and Tony Award winner, Renée Elise Goldsberry. She has also sung in the Colorado Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker with the Evan’s Choir for several Christmas seasons. Recently, Deborah was selected to sing the National Anthem for Colorado Remembers 9/11: Commemoration & National Security Forum hosted by Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
While in undergraduate studies as a Vocal Performance major at Alliance University in New York, Deborah was a 3-time winner of the Outstanding Female Vocalist Award resulting in yearly scholarships. She performed several times at Lincoln Center and Steinway Hall, and she starred in the role of Dorothy in an Off-Broadway production of The Wiz at the American Theatre of Actors. Deborah also performed the role of Adele in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. She also toured throughout Asia as a lead soloist with the Alliance University Chamber Choir. As part of her operatic training, Deborah participated in summer intensive programs with The Vocal Arts Festival/Young Artists Summer Intensive sponsored by Opera Theatre of the Rockies with Martile Rowland, Artistic Director, and The Dandelion Opera Institute, under the direction of Sahar Nouri, Chorus Master of Opera Colorado, and Music Director of Lamont Opera Theatre.
When she is not on stage, Deborah enjoys composing original contemporary music and writing poetry. She also has served as a substitute elementary school teacher in underrepresented communities in her hometown where she enjoys introducing students to classical music. Deborah will complete her master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Lamont School of Music in June 2023.
